Reid Lake
In order to meet the municipal requirements of Swift Current and for water below Duncairn Dam, continuous releases are made from Reid Lake. These releases allow for a naturally reproducing sport fishery in Swift Current Creek. The species found in the creek include perch, walleye, and northern pike. Waterfowl use Reid Lake mainly for fall staging and because of this Reid Lake/Duncairn Reservoir has been designated as a Migratory Bird Sanctuary by the Canadian Wildlife Service. This designation means that development around the reservoir is controlled to ensure that the habitat required for these birds as they migrate is preserved.
