Duncairn Reservoir : Cottages and Camping
Carefree Park is a scenic area in the R.M. of Bone Creek, where the creek enters Duncairn Reservoir. There are cabins here as well as camp sites, boat ramps, and public rest rooms. There is a spring for residents and campers to get potable water. The campsites are available on a first come basis.
Ferguson Bay is an area of cottages managed by Duncairn Cabin Owners Association. The name of the bay is in honor of Thomas L. Ferguson, a former district Sheriff, who was instrumental in organizing the association. Ferguson Bay has two boat loading ramps and is used regularly for recreation, especially fishing.
Horse Thief Cave, in the hills at Reid Lake, was supposedly the temporary home of early horse traders as they traveled with herds of stolen horses. This was a good vantage point to see the surrounding countryside and there were tall trees along the creek for keeping the horses. These thieves moved herds across the border quite regularly. This cave was open into the hill until about 1940 but is now filled in.
