Highfield Resevoir
This reservoir was constructed in 1942 and holds 14,934 dam3, the equivalent of almost 6,000 Olympic sized swimming pools in storage capacity and covers an area of 1282 acres. This reservoir serves as a water source for irrigation directly from the reservoir as well as supplying the water for the Rush Lake Irrigation project. Highfield Reservoir is upstream of the Herbert Irrigation Project and indirectly supplies water to that project as well as to the Town of Herbert.
Highfield Reservoir does support some fishing but is not stocked primarily because the fluctuating water levels make the reservoir a less than ideal fish habitat. The Highfield Reservoir is not to be used for domestic, farm or industrial use unless permission has been obtained from Water Security Agency, however fire trucks would not be refused in an emergency.
